Thankful Thursday!

Iris's theme this week is the 5 senses! I think that is a great theme to have! It's unique and gets me thinking about how grateful I should be to have all 5 senses. What came to my mind right away is all 5 senses in Fall!
        • Thank you Lord for the sense of smell so in the Fall I can smell
        • leaves laying on the ground
        • Apple Crisp or Apple pie baking in the oven
        • pumpkin donuts and apple cider for an area farm
        • hot coffee on a cool Autumn morning
        • Thank you Lord for the sense of taste so I can taste
        • all the things above
        • soups that we start to make this time of year
        • Thank you for being able to taste the coffee I love so much!!! (do you sense a theme?)

        • Thank you for the sense of touch so I can
        • go on walks with my family and pick up leaves
        • hug my family and enjoy being together
        • carve pumpkins and scoop out the inside
        • feel the cool air on my face
        • Thank you for my sense of sight so I can
        • see the beautiful colors of Fall. Knowing there is no way that something this beautiful happened by chance
        • watching the leaves fall off the trees after a big wind comes! They gently fall to the ground
        • watching my children play in the leaves

        • Thank you Lord for my sense of hearing so I can hear
        • wind in the trees
        • the laughter of my children
        • the cheers from the football crowd
        • the geese flying overhead

God has blessed us abundantly! Give him praise today! Visit Grace Alone to hear what others are thankful for!

        Thankful Thursday!

        Isaiah 30:18 & 19
        Yet the LORD longs to be gracious to you;
he rises to show you compassion.
For the LORD is a God of justice.
Blessed are all who wait for him!
19 O people of Zion, who live in Jerusalem,
        you will weep no more.
How gracious he will be when you cry for help!
As soon as he hears, he will answer you.
God is so good! Often in my busy, busy weeks I tend to misplace that information! I get bogged down in the process of life that I am left discontented and wondering why I do not hear God speak to me! It's not that he isn't speaking, I am not hearing or seeing! It is all from my end! I do not take adequate time to be with him, to read his word, and pray! To spend quality time alone just him and me. Like I mentioned in my previous post, he met us women today and blessed us! There were times at the beginning where I felt I was not prepared! It seemed like others were so much more in tuned to God then I was! But I realized I was comparing myself to them and God showed me that I needed to repent of that and other things! Like I said in my previous post, I left there feeling as light as a feather! Oh to keep that on the forefront of my mind always! I am so glad that he is Gracious though, aren't you?!!!

Well another week of Thankfulness is upon us! Reviewing the past week there is so much to be thankful for:
        • I am thankful for a wonderful time away. We all had a wonderful time of camping!
        • I'm thankful for Godly friends who pray for me and support and encourage me.
        • I'm thankful for my husband, who is a great support and wonderful father and provider.
        • I'm thankful his job is going better and that he feels better about things.
        • I'm thankful that he is involved in a Bible study with me from other churches and is growing in his faith.
        • I am thankful for God's word and that it is alive and active, and speaks to every situation!
        • I am thankful for the opportunity to be used by God to do things for his kingdom!
        • I am thankful that he is patient and merciful and does not give us what we deserve!
        • I am thankful for his wonderful creation, especially the little bitty bunnies Champ found in the back yard! He now needs to be monitored outside until they are old enough to move!
        • I am thankful for that silly little puppy who makes a beeline for the hole every time I put him out, but as soon as I say no, no he leaves them alone! He is a very smart miniature white rabbit! BTW we tell him they are turtles. We are thoroughly confusing him!!!! It's so much fun!!!!!!

What are you thankful for this week! Take a look and see what God has done for you, then go and check out the other thankful bloggy sisters at Sting my Heart!

        Thankful Thursday!

It's been a couple of weeks since I've participated in Thankful Thursday! It's not for lack of things to be Thankful for, God has provided plenty! I've just not been able to bring myself to sit long enough at the computer and put thought to paper! But no more! Here is my list of things I am thankful for today:

        • Just one more short week and school will be done!!!! YEAH!!! I can't wait! I love summer and I love having my kids around! Also I don't love making lunches, being on a strick schedule in the morning, homework, etc......

        • The day after school is out we head for the Conference grounds! Another yeah! We had so much fun there last year! It is right on the shores of Lake Michigan, they have a pool! Also Bible School for the kids and Bible study for me! Steve will work all week and come out at night. We usually know quite a few people and it's close enough that friends can come visit. So if you live in the area and are out in Grand Haven, spot of by to lot #66!

        • I'm thankful for the weekend Kam and I had last weekend! I didn't blog about it, but we had a very relaxing time in Traverse City! That city has so much to offer!

        • I am thankful for the prayer warrior's I have praying for me right now! I can sure feel their prayers, and I know that God will bring an answer in His time! Thanks for praying for me guys!

        • I'm thankful that the weather is slllooowwllyy getting warmer! Of course I just stepped outside to help Steve with the pool cover and it's a gettin' chilly again! Michigan is so fickle, but I love her!

        • I'm thankful that when Bekah didn't get off the bus at our house that she got off at Samantha's and was safe!

        • Speaking of above! The pool is open and the green is disappearing! Looking forward to alot of fun times around the pool this summer!

        • I'm thankful for my faithful bloggy friends, who have encouraged me the past few weeks! Completely understanding my need for down time! I do love having met all you ladies and so enjoy getting to know you better!

        • I have been studying Philippians this past week! What an awesomely encouraging book that Paul wrote! Have you read it lately? I will end with some verses from there!

        • Philippians 1: 3-6

        • I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

        • 1:9-11

        • And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.

        Thankful Thursday!

My Thankful Thursday post today is the devotional from Spurgeon's Morning and Evening from last night! This just touched me, so I wanted to share it with you!

“And his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.”
        Exodus 17:12
So mighty was the prayer of Moses, that all depended upon it. The petitions of Moses discomfited the enemy more than the fighting of Joshua. Yet both were needed. So, in the soul’s conflict, force and fervour, decision and devotion, valour and vehemence, must join their forces, and all will be well. You must wrestle with your sin, but the major part of the wrestling must be done alone in private with God. Prayer, like Moses’, holds up the token of the covenant before the Lord. The rod was the emblem of God’s working with Moses, the symbol of God’s government in Israel. Learn, O pleading saint, to hold up the promise and the oath of God before him. The Lord cannot deny his own declarations. Hold up the rod of promise, and have what you will.
Moses grew weary, and then his friends assisted him. When at any time your prayer flags, let faith support one hand, and let holy hope uplift the other, and prayer seating itself upon the stone of Israel, the rock of our salvation, will persevere and prevail. Beware of faintness in devotion; if Moses felt it, who can escape? It is far easier to fight with sin in public, than to pray against it in private. It is remarked that Joshua never grew weary in the fighting, but Moses did grow weary in the praying; the more spiritual an exercise, the more difficult it is for flesh and blood to maintain it. Let us cry, then, for special strength, and may the Spirit of God, who helpeth our infirmities, as he allowed help to Moses, enable us like him to continue with our hands steady “until the going down of the sun;” till the evening of life is over; till we shall come to the rising of a better sun in the land where prayer is swallowed up in praise.

I am so thankful that God cannot deny his own declarations! I've never been promised a life without pain or struggle, after all look where we live, but God promises to be there with me, guiding me, loving me, disciplining me until I reach heaven and will praise him forever more! Prayer is such an amazing tool, but for me it seems so hard to do! I struggle in my private prayer time! I get overwhelmed by the vast amounts of concerns that I don't know where to begin! I am reminded to just be there with God! Let the Spirit guide me!

I'm also thankful my husband made it home from Pittsburgh early this morning!

I'm thankful that God showed a lesson to my children yesterday when they were praying for a friend at school! This time he provided miraculous healing! It was great to point that out to them, and then discuss how sometimes God heals but in different ways. Ways that may not be the way we would want it, but this time he chose to show those doctors a thing or two! What is so great also is so many kids wrote on this child's carepage that they were praying! My son called me from school and I got to pray with him over the phone!

I'm thankful for the army God is raising up! May we as parents be prepared through living our lives in accordance with God's word, KNOWING God's word, and TEACHING it to our children!

        Have a blessed day today!

        Thankful Thursday - Kindness!

It seems like I just wrote my last Thankful Thursday post, but alas another week has sped by and I am here to reflect on the Lords goodness in this past week. Iris at Sting my Heart focused on Kindness today and that fits right in with one of the things I am thankful for!
        Proverbs 28:27
He who gives to the poor will lack nothing,
but he who closes his eyes to them receives many curses.
              • This week being spring break around here, I finally made the time to take my dear sweet daughter down to a local homeless shelter to drop off the money she raised, ummmm, last summer for the homeless! I know I know why so long! I have no excuse!!!! But isn't it better late then never?! Here is a picture of my sweet girl giving the money to a woman at Degage Ministries! I am thankful for Bekah's giving heart!
My friend Diane had a post the other day about hardships in Haiti and other countries like Haiti! The cost of everything there is so exorbitant and here we sit in our vast wealth! You may say vast wealth, what! Yes compared to many, many other countries and even areas of the U.S. we are wealthy! We need to give of that wealth and be so grateful to God for what he has given us! I'm thankful for what God has given me and pray to use it wisely for Him!

                • I'm thankful for Spring break and the relaxing time we have been having. The weather has not been to warm, but that is O.K., not being on a schedule is wonderful!
                • I'm thankful for the study of Galatians I just finished and the power packed chapter 6 that just ended it on an awesome note!
                • I'm thankful that I have been able to walk 3 mornings this week! Getting started with a little David Crowder, then finishing with Alistar! Ah nice morning walks!
                • I'm thankful my son has somewhere to sleep tonight when I have 5 girly's over for Bekah's Birthday Party!
                • I'm thankful that right now the Mermaid cake is somewhat looking O.K. (I'll post pictures later, MAYBE!)
                • I'm thankful for my job where I have flexible hours so I can work at night and not have to get a babysitter for my kids!
                • I'm thankful that for the most part there has not been much arguing!
                • I'm thankful that this weekend I get to go to the Precepts Bible Training! I am so looking forward to how God is going to use this!

          Have an Awesome week!

          Thankful Thursday!

Welcome to another installment of looking back and seeing God's faithfulness over this last week! It is so good to be able to do this each week, seeing God in the big and the small things! This morning before I read Galatians 3 I prayed that God would help me to understand this book! I don't know about the rest of you, but Paul's letters are hard to follow! You need to just about take it sentence by sentence! There is so many wonderful things that he teaches us through his letters though that I want to make sure I fully understand. Well God showed me a verse I needed right of the bat! For those of you that commented on my Living Well post yesterday, I am so grateful for your encouragement! That is one of the things I am thankful for this week! The accountability and encouragement I receive, not only from women in blogland, but the wonderful women at church who do the same thing for me! I so appreciate the support! Anyway this is the verse God gave me this morning:

          Galatians 3:3

Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort?

I do not, nor can I do anything in my own strength! I need to rely on God every second! He will give me what I need! I so appreciate those that reminded me of scripture I could turn too! Thank you!

Now other things I am thankful for:

          • SUNSHINE AND 50 DEGREE WEATHER!!!!!

          • My mom is home from the hospital with a pic line. She needs to be given antibiotics twice a day through that, but she is home, and her doggie and her are happy! (If you would pray for my sister Rachel. She lives with my mom and has the brunt of the work with this pic line. I can't even tell you what to pray, there is so much, but please remember her in your prayers)
          • Lessons learned this week by us and our #1 child. It was a hard week of wrong choices, but we worked through them and thank God for patience and eventual understanding!
          • Jeremiah had a doctors appointment on Tuesday with his Cardiologist and everything looks good there. He no longer has to take antibiotics before dentist appts and such! He has MVP(Mitro Valve, Prolapse), so he just needs to be checked once a year.

God is so good! Go to Sting my Heart to see what others are Thankful for today!

          Thankful Thursday!

I love Iris' theme over at her blog this week "DANCING!" Dancing before the Lord! It made me think of the verses God gave me a couple of years ago when I was really struggling with looking at myself negatively. It is:
          Zephaniah 3: 14-17
          Sing, O Daughter of Zion;
          shout aloud, O Israel!
Be glad and rejoice with all your heart,
          O Daughter of Jerusalem!
15 The LORD has taken away your punishment,
he has turned back your enemy.
          The LORD, the King of Israel, is with you;
never again will you fear any harm.
16 On that day they will say to Jerusalem,
          "Do not fear, O Zion;
do not let your hands hang limp.
17 The LORD your God is with you,
          he is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you,
he will quiet you with his love,
he will rejoice over you with singing."
There is so much to be thankful for this week:
          • For the celebration of Christ's resurrection last week! Friday night was a great service. Thanks to those of you who prayed for me speaking! I felt such peace before and while I was up there! I was also able to ward off satans attacks of it won't be good, your not prepared, your not going to make any since, etc... What a great reminder to us all of what he took on himself (our sin) and what was given to us through his death and resurrection (perfection in God's eyes). Thank you Jesus!
          • Both Bekah and my test results came back O.K. My Peanut is just a peanut. I have been told by my mom and my sister Judy that Bekah's great-great grandma Minni Molly (don't you love that name!) was only 4'9", and let's face it I'm a little height challenged myself! My Echo Stress test came back normal. So apparently my issues are from being overweight and out of shape! (Which of course I am working on!)
          • Frankly I'm thankful yesterday is over! Jeremiah had an issue at school yesterday! We have not had one of these in a while so that is a praise, but it is always hard when they pop up. I am praising God that they have been few and far between.
          • I was visiting my mom in the hospital when I got the call, and I was amazed at really how calm I remained! That is a true testament of God's peace in any situation! Even when things aren't good, you can still feel peace!
          • Speaking of my mom, I'm thankful she is in the hospital! She has very bad "bugs" as the doctor is saying, and her lungs are really bad. He says he can't cure her, but will help as much as he can. She was breathing better yesterday so that is a plus! I know God can heal her, I just don't know how he will do it, but I trust him, and he knows best! I just want to make the most of the time I have left with her!
          • Thankful for the signs of Spring! I so need that warmer weather!

Thanks so much for coming by, go to Iris at Sting my heart to read about other thankful ladies!

          Thankful Thursday!

This week as we have all been focusing on our Lord's Death and Blessed Resurrection, I cannot help but be so thankful for what He did! Christ gave up his life for me! I was on his mind! He suffered an unimaginable death for me! Endured torture like we have never seen for me! Was forsaken by his Father for me!
Can I really every comprehend the magnitude of love that poured out of this man, this son of God for me?! Have I ever really understood that love?!
          THANK YOU JESUS!
          THANK YOU FATHER!
          Luke 23: 44-46
It was now about the sixth hour (midday), and darkness enveloped the whole land and earth until the ninth hour (about three o'clock in the afternoon),
While the sun's light faded or
was darkened; and the curtain [of the Holy of Holies] of the temple was torn in two.
And Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said, Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit! And with these words, He expired.
          Luke 24:1-8
BUT ON the first day of the week, at early dawn, [the women] went to the tomb, taking the spices which they had made ready.
2And they found the stone rolled back from the tomb,
3But when they went inside, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.
4And while they were perplexed and wondering what to do about this, behold, two men in dazzling raiment suddenly stood beside them.
5And as [the women] were frightened and were bowing their faces to the ground, the men said to them, Why do you look for the living among [those who are] dead?
6He is not here, but has risen! Remember how He told you while He was still in Galilee
7That the Son of Man must be given over into the hands of sinful men (men whose way or nature is to act in opposition to God) and be crucified and on the third day rise [from death].
          8And they remembered His words.
So much to be Thankful for! May you all have a blessed Easter, remembering how Christ died for you!

          Thankful Thursday!

          John 17:17 says:
17Sanctify them [purify, consecrate, separate them for Yourself, make them holy] by the Truth; Your Word is Truth.

Another Thankful Thursday is here, and I thank God for His word! I thank him that His word is true! That in it we find healing, instructions, correction, LIFE!

          I am also thankful for:

          • My son's first Boy Scout troop meeting going well! He seemed to really enjoy himself.

          • I am thankful that earlier this week, we left the house a little late (God appointment), and were able to help a young girl who had missed the bus! (She was only in the 5th grade, and was home alone, that is another story for another time). I just know that God has us there to help her. Otherwise she would have never made it to school on time. It was a cold morning, and she had a long way to walk.

          • I am thankful for the sun shining the last few days, and alot of the snow is melting!

          • I'm thankful for thoughts of Spring!

          • I'm thankful for my husbands job. So much is uncertain these days!

          • I am thankful for our upcoming trip to California to visit Steve's brother! We got a great deal on tickets, and are looking forward to July 19th!! Well all of us except Jeremiah, he's not to hip on airplanes, but he'll just have to get over that!

          • I've been thankful this week for the Cardinals singing outside my bedroom window in the morning!

Thanks for stopping by! Stop on over at: Sting My Heart to see others who are thankful too!
